Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are your payment terms?

Payment terms for customers with credit accounts are 30 days. A credit account may be granted on receipt of satisfactory trade references. Acceptable methods of payment are bankers drafts, cheques (Sterling or US dollars), telegraphic transfers, BACS (UK only) and CHAPS.

2. What is your standard Warranty Returns Procedure?

See Statement of Warranty

3. Do you have distributors in other countries?

We have found the most effective method of dealing with our OEM customers is by direct communication, rather than by using distributors in other countries. Our ability to communicate directly has been enhanced in recent years by rapid developments in global communications technologies.

4. What are the lead times for sensors?

Lead times are updated daily and are available on request from City Technology's Customer Services Team. However, the following general rules apply:

Lead times for small quantities are in the order of 7-10 days. Large quantities carry lead times of up to 28 days. Traditional products such as the metal can oxygen sensors tend to have the shortest lead times, whilst more complicated items featuring electronic circuitry e.g.A3ME/F or A3ME/D carry longer lead times. An ex-stock facility is available on many items.

5. How many people work at City Technology?

The company has undergone rapid growth during the past two decades, such that it now employs more than 250 staff. The design and manufacture of gas sensors (and accessories) takes place at the custom-built City Technology Centre on the South Coast of England (Portsmouth, UK). The site houses a large Research and Development facility and a streamlined manufacturing operation.

6. How do I open an account?

In the first instance contact your customer services representative or technical advisor at City Technology. You will be asked to provide your company details including full address, delivery address (if different) and the names of key purchasing and accounts contacts. The information you provide will enable us to open a Proforma account on your behalf. A 30-day credit account may be opened subject to receipt of satisfactory trade references.

7. What are your hours of business?

Hours of business are 8.30-17.30hrs Monday to Thursday, 8.30-17.00hrs on Fridays. Answer phone and voice mail services available 24 hours.

8. Can you offer company specific labels?

Company specific labels can be provided, where sensors are required in sufficient volume. We will charge a small set-up fee to cover the cost of generation of artwork. Please contact your CTL Customer Service representative for more details.

9. Do you supply replacement sensors for Instruments?

City Technology is a volume supplier of gas sensors to original equipment manufacturers, and hence it is not company policy to supply replacement sensors for instruments. These should be purchased direct from the instrument manufacturer who can ensure that you are supplied with the correct replacement for your instrument.
